The purpose of the Instructor Refresher Seminar is to provide training to flight instructors and instrument rating instructors that refreshes their knowledge and practical understanding of relevant parts of the FI course syllabus as detailed in AMC1 FCL.930 and AMC1 FCL.930.IRI, and additional guidance material.

Pre-Entry Requirements

Before Commencing the FI (A) course at Aviator Flight Centre, a pilot must have completed:

  • Hold a PPL (A), CPL (A) or ATPL (A) issued un accordance with Part-FCL
  • Hold a valid medical certificate issued in accordance with Part-MED
  • Have received at least 10 hours of instrument flight instruction in aeroplanes, of which no more than 5 hours may be instrument ground time
  • Have completed at least 20 hours of VFR cross-country flight time in the aeroplanes of TMGs
  • Have passed a pre-entry flight test in accordance with FCL.930.FI(a)
  • Have completed at least 30 hours flight time on single-engine piston powered aeroplanes of which at least 5 hours must have been completed in the 6 months preceding the pre-entry test
  • Have completed a VFR cross-country flight as PIC of at least 540km (300nm) in the course of which full stop landings at two different aerodromes were made
  • Met the general prerequisites for instructors at FCL.915
  • Show evidence of an English language proficiency assessment of at least ICAO Level 4
  • Additionally in the case of the holder of a PPL (A):
    • Have met the requirements for CPL (A) or ATPL (A) knowledge
    • Have completed at least 200 hours of flight time in aeroplanes or TMGs

Training Syllabus

The FI (A) course comprises at least 125 hours of theoretical knowledge training and at least 30 hours of flight training.

Up to 5 hours of flight training on the FI (A) course may be mutual flying, that is two applicants together to practice flight demonstrations

The Structured Hours-Building Course is designed for students to achieve the EASA minimum requirement (170 hours Total Time with 100 hours PIC) in order to commence CPL & IR courses with Aviator Flight Centre. The outline below is tailored for a student with 50 hours flight experience, but the course can be adjusted to meet your individual needs. Special prices are available to students who are booked to conduct their CPL & IR training with Aviator Flight Centre.

Course Structure

Pre-entry Requirements

  • Current PPL(A), issued in accordance with EASA Part FCL
  • Current Class 2 Medical (although a Class 1 medical will ultimately be required for a commercial licence), issued in accordance with Part-MED.

 

Duration

8 Weeks (Weather Dependent)

The Multi Engine Piston course enables you to fly multi engine aircraft. This is usually taught pre-instrument rating.

Pre-Entry Requirements

  • Hold a valid pilot licence issued in accordance with Part-FCL
  • Hold a Valid medical certificate in accordance in Part-MED
  • Have completed at least 70 hours flight time as PIC on aeroplanes
  • Show evidence of English Language Proficiency at least equal to ICAO Level 4

 

Duration

3 Days (Weather Dependent)

This rating allows you to fly at night as well as being a requirement for commencing your CPL Course of training.

Course Structure

Flight Training

5 hours night training to include:

  • 1 hour navigation
  • 5 take-off and full-stop landings at night as PIC (1 hour)

Pre-entry Requirements

This can be completed during the PPL(A) if the other PPL requirements are met i.e. 10 hours solo + 35 hours dual (during daylight). Or PPL (A) licence, issued in accordance with Part-FCL.
